Pieces of history have something to tell us ...

Postcard of March 2nd, 1967:

1967_cherta_sanlinert_low
It's always interesting to see old photos or postcards about our town of Badia. The postcard above was given to us by a loyal guests who wanted to know one thing, exactly which hotel in Badia in year 1967 had already a swimming pool. We translate for you the text of the postcard so you will know more:

Dearest Mother!

Today we have the first sunny day. Otherwise always rainy and cloudy. In the Hotel there is a swimming pool. We swim every morning before breakfast. Don't fear about the skiing, we aren't it's to warm. Otherwise we like it here. The days pass in a hurry. On March 12th we will fly back home from Munich.

Regards, Ruth, and Ursula

So the first hotel in our valley that had a swimming pool was exactly located in our hometown of Badia and it was the Sporthotel Teresa.

Other interesting facts that we can deduce from the text of this postcard are:

  • The beginning of March 1967 was rainy and it was too warm for skiing
  • Postcard was written on March 2nd, no one knows how many days before Ursula and Ruth checked in at the hotel. But their departure was scheduled for March 12. Time ago guests were enjoying a really long holiday in the Dolomites.
  • The cost of a stamp in 1967 was 30 Italian Lire? Compared to know it would be 0,021 US$
