Walk the foot of Santa Croce Mountain
Dolomites, UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. What significance does this title have? Sometimes we take it for granted, but one thing is for sure, the motorized traffic will continue to increase and you'll see more and more people taking pictures right from their car windows without even setting foot on a path or walking barefoot through the freshly cut meadow. Don't lose the opportunity to see and experience the real essence of 'mountain living'.
So, for those of you passing through the valley of Val Badia and our town of Badia, we'd like to suggest taking just a small walking tour of about 3 hours. Be assured ... if you take this little piece of advice, you won't regret it! It's an experience you'll never forget. From Badia, we'll bring you safely to a high altitude with the Santa Croce chair lift. If you have the Mountain Pass Alta Badia with you, then the ride is free. Once we arrive at the top of the first chair lift, just head toward the Lée Hut (note, it's not spelled like Lee jeans but like the 'e' of ikEa :-) )From there continue walking toward the little Lée Lake on a very nice theme trail. Along this path, you'll find handmade wild animals cutted out of wood with a chainsaw by one of our own South Tyrolean artists.
At Lée lake, dip your feet in the fresh, clear water and after that, continue to walk on the same path toward the "Malga Pasciantadú". This is a beautiful, peaceful place to take a short break and walk barefooted on the fresh meadows. After a little relaxing, continue to walk uphill on path number 13... This path leads directly to the Santa Croce Sanctuary with its characteristic church: The return to the valley is easy, just follow the trail downhill until you reach the chairlift that takes you back to the town of Badia. If you'd like, for the first downhill section there is also a two-seated chairlift available for your use.The duration of this walking tour with the uphill and downhill use of the chairlifts is approximately 3 hours. After that, you will have fallen in love with our quaint town and peaceful area. If you decide to stay a few nights with us in Alta Badia, you'll find our Ustaria Posta conveniently located just 100 meters from the valley station chairlift.See you all soon!!!
